BIOGRAPHY

Bruno Gadenne (b. 1990 in Cavaillon) is an artist who lives and works in Paris. After studying in Sèvres (FR) and Boston (USA), he graduated in 2014 from HEAR (formerly École Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs de Strasbourg).

The artist had his first solo exhibition in Strasbourg in 2014 with the Bertrand Gilig Gallery. Highlighted by the November International Painting Prize in Vitry in 2016 and the Icart Prize in 2017, Bruno Gadenne is the 2018 winner of the Théophile Schuler Prize. In 2019, he was the guest of honour at the Salon des Artistes of Massy.

More recently, his work has been the solo subject of exhibitions at DUMONTEIL Gallery, Shanghai, China (2024 and 2022); Le Feuvre & Roze, Paris (2023); Galerie Provost-Hacker, Lille, France (2021); agnès b. Gallery, New York, USA (2019).
Bruno Gadenne is a globetrotter, a traveller. He is driven by the strong desire to experience and verify the beauty of the world. The beauty of primordial landscapes, of the jungle, of the primary forest and of other distant lands. A contemporary romantic attitude in which he accumulates, in sketchbooks and in his memory, reminiscences and the "reveries of a solitary walker" that he brings back to the studio. These landscapes, through which the painter's body has passed, are transcribed onto the canvas from photographs taken by himself and reworked on the computer. The treatment of the images creates a subtle distortion of the light, a strangeness combined with a wonder that remains intact.
